The first Audirvana V1 Interface (2011)

Damien Plisson

“I never imagined Audirvana would grow to such a size. It all started with a big box of 56 Aldo Cicciolini CDs that I had ripped and wanted to play on my computer.

There was a debate at the time about the audio quality offered by the first audiophile playback solutions. So I decided to develop a demonstrator myself to check the quality gain that could be achieved by bypassing the software layers to transmit audio data packets directly to the DAC.

I was impressed with the audio result I heard, and I shared the demonstrator online. It was downloaded over 60,000 times! The feedback from the community was extremely positive. So, I continued the developments to get to the end of the process and started selling it in 2011. In 2012, we received the Computer Audiophile Magazine Readers’ Choice Award.

After a few years, I realized that this could become my full time job. I could combine my passion for music with a product universe that I had total control over. No concessions to be made. I can do things the way I think they should be done, solve problems one by one. Over the years, I have approached each new subject, each format, with the same exigency, using all the possibilities offered by machines and programming environments. Today Audirvana is the fruit of all this work.”

Damien Plisson founded Audirvana in 2011. He has a top level engineering background: Master of Science in Computer Science from UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), Graduated from the École Centrale Paris

The ultimate digital audio playback

Audirvana is a great audio playback app, hands down. And I’m not saying this out of nowhere – I’m willing to bet my entire music playlist (and my pride as a musician) on the quality of this app. The sheer quality of the HiFi audio output alone is enough for me to keep using it. And with the added settings that will have me further tweaking things is exceptional.
