Audirvāna also fetches your music where it is stored. Your stored files remain intact. Audirvāna creates its own database with metadata to navigate faster through your content. But regarding the audio, Audirvāna copies and processes the file you play on the fly without keeping it in memory. Only your files’ metadata can be modified from within the app if you choose to.
We have simplified the addition of music process in Audirvāna, with an easy drag and drop option of a file to listen to it (stored into a Temporary playlist).
For a more permanent addition, you can synchronize different folders containing your music from the ‘local’ menu in the settings. Audirvāna will then automatically update the library at each startup. Folders may be directly stored on your computer, or on an external hard drive connected via USB or a network, on a NAS for example.
If you are a Mac user, you can also synchronize your Apple Music library in the same manner.
Audirvāna performs an audio recognition of your local library (“audio fingerprinting”). This is done in the background and you can use Audirvāna normally and exit the application whenever you want. The scan will pick up where it left off before quitting.
If your library is large, this analysis can take quite a long time. But it is only done once when you first synchronize. It helps recognize your recordings to give you more information about your music and to offer you more relevant related music in your streaming service.
If you want, the ID matching this audio fingerprint can be added to your audio files’ metadata which will avoid repeating the scan if you install Audirvāna on another computer to play the same library.
